After a similar project next door, our clients asked us to extend the lower ground floor of their Victorian terraced house on Riversdale Road, Highbury. The new garden room sits beside their kitchen, in polished concrete, plywood and green-painted steel. It projects past the rear wall to catch the afternoon sun through a west-facing window, with a small terracotta-tiled corner that blurs inside and out. The palette of green and terracotta grew from conversations with the client, a weaver, and her interest in the colour work of Annie Albers.
