If you own a historic building that feels fixed or unworkable, our starting point is to show you what it could still become. The whole task is in the adaptation: making an old building comfortable and efficient to run, while retaining and enhancing its character.
We work regularly with listed buildings and in conservation areas, beginning with a close reading of what a building is and how it has changed. From there we design spaces that can take on new uses and evolve over time, setting old and new structure honestly alongside each other. We are experienced in securing listed building consent, and in the conversations with conservation officers that can shape a scheme as much as the design does. Most of our heritage clients arrive daunted by the constraints and leave with a building that does far more than they expected.
