AAA's new curtain wall framing is now being installed across the ground floor frontage of Cockpit's main building, replacing the previous façade and transforming the building's relationship with the street. The aluminium framing will be complete by mid-July, with the perforated and embossed anodised panels to follow shortly after.
The façade is the most technically involved element of the project. It sits on a new concrete upstand with formed waterproofing, and incorporates fixed and sliding sections, several new door openings, and actuated vents. Working with AAA from a factory visit through to fabrication has been a long process of workshops, submittals, and on-site coordination.
The new opening to the front yard — which will eventually receive a bespoke steel gate by Cake Metalwork — is now cut and ready.
