Architecture Today has published a profile of Cooke Fawcett. In it, we talk about leaving Herzog & de Meuron, building the practice from two people with no clients of our own, and how heritage and retrofit work now sit alongside cultural and residential projects.

The interview follows the practice from the Tate Modern extension, where Oliver and Francis first worked together, through early domestic projects and competition entries for Oxford colleges, to Cockpit Studios in Deptford and Aldersgate House, our retrofit of a 1980s office building on Aldersgate Street above Barbican station. One client at Cockpit recently described us as a "co-conspirator". Oliver talks about what that meant in practice: at Cockpit, we shared responsibility for funding pitches, council discussions and the work needed to build momentum.

Elsewhere in the interview, we set out what's next for the practice:

• further retrofits of 1980s and 1990s office buildings, building on the approach developed at Aldersgate House

• planning permission granted this year for Sunnyside Community Gardens in Islington and the Peckham Watch Factory

• a masterplan for an organic farm in north Somerset

• a new theatre project in central London, converting an existing building into rehearsal, performance and office space
