An early twentieth-century terraced house on one of Muswell Hill's characterful tree-lined streets, sitting within a conservation area designated in recognition of the exceptional consistency of its Edwardian residential architecture. The house retains much of its original character: slender white-painted sash windows, cornicing and decorative woodwork throughout, and an ornate double front door with a coloured glass fanlight. The proposed works look to reference and enhance these features.

The existing rear conservatory, a poor-performing 2004 addition, is replaced by a more robust garden room and utility functions in brick and painted timber, its tripartite glazed elevation designed to echo the rhythm of the original rear doors it sits alongside. Above, an enlarged L-shaped loft dormer — clad in zinc, chosen to complement the original slate — is deliberately set clear of the paired chimneys that mark the shared boundaries of the terrace, a detail the conservation area appraisal identifies as one of the street's defining characteristics.
The result is a house that has been quietly, carefully improved without disturbing the things that make it worth caring for.
