Corbyn Street III

We renovated and extended this Victorian terraced house on Corbyn Street, Finsbury Park, adding a mansard loft, a side return and a rebuilt rear outrigger. The outrigger was in such poor condition that rebuilding it cost no more than repairing it, so we widened it and brought it up to a far higher thermal standard. In the loft, a widened rear landing lets the new floor cross-ventilate and the whole house stack-ventilate. With no skylights, triple glazing to the north and deep sash reveals to the front, the new bedroom suite stays cooler than the floors below. The project featured in The Sunday Times.
