Francis was a Senior Architect on the Tate Modern Extension and Project Architect on the Blavatnik School of Government - both RIBA National Award winners.

A problem solver with a track record of proposing innovative and radical solutions to challenging briefs, Francis is particularly interested in the integration of energy saving measures within historic structures.

During his time at Herzog & de Meuron Architects (2008 – 2015), Francis was Senior Architect on the Tate Modern Extension, London, with responsibility for the design and delivery of the new learning centre. He was also Project Architect for the Blavatnik School of Government, Oxford, a new, RIBA Stirling Prize-nominated university building, rated BREAM Excellent. He worked on the masterplan for the redevelopment of Lord’s, London, the Roche tower, Basel, and Basel Exhibition Centre.

While completing his studies, Francis worked at Make Architects (2004-2006). He studied at the University of Cambridge and ETH Zürich, gaining his Diplom in 2007.

Francis went on to teach an undergraduate design studio at the University of Cambridge from 2016 until 2021 and has been an invited critic and lecturer at several UK universities and the Bauhaus, Germany.
