Direct commission for a new extension to provide a generous new family living and kitchen space for an end-of-terrace cottage in Wimbledon.

A new entrance part leads into the reconfigured existing house, and forms the link to the large new space. This is characterised by windows and glazed doors oriented to the garden, shaded by climbing plants on a projecting trellis. A large horizontal slot window and rooflight illuminate the kitchen area. Extensive built-in cupboards provide storage for one of the clients, a clothing designer.

The proposal aims to connect the house to the large triangular garden, which until now has been difficult to access from the house. Externally the new structure is clad in sheets of dark profiled concrete boards, with timber window frames.
